The Humanitarian Affairs Asia Social Impact Internship Placement

The Humanitarian Affairs Asia Social Impact Internship Placement offers socially-minded students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to our work in areas such as youth empowerment, strategic partnerships, communications, advocacy, research and planning and execution of events at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

We would like to invite your students to apply for the Social Impact Global Internship Placement, starting in July 2023.

Position: Social Impact Program Associate
Period: 3 July 2023 to 15 December 2023 (5 months)
Location: Bangkok, Thailand

The Social Impact Global Internship Placement is designed to provide interns with a valuable learning experience. They may have a country-specific, regional, sectoral, or thematic focus. Most interns support the recruitment, implementation, and execution of our youth empowerment project in an international environment. They contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal # 17, Partnerships to achieve the Goal.

Selected interns serve as a Volunteer English Teacher at an elementary school in Bangkok, as part of our collaboration with Thailand’s Ministry of Education to prepare the children of Thailand in becoming global youth leaders who can communicate in English.

Training Program and Personal Coaching will be provided throughout the internship placement.

Position/Service

Interns will serve as a Social Impact Program Associate during their placement. Their main focus is to recruit like-minded individuals who are passionate in building a better world to attend our youth empowerment event, the 3rd Global Peace Summit 2023.

Job Description

Actively manage the existing database to ensure information is accurate and kept up-to-date.
Reach out to like-minded partners in academia and assist them in nominating outstanding students from their institutions of higher learning / country.
Establish new relationships with stakeholders by researching, collating and developing new contacts.
Maintain existing current relationships with various stakeholders.
Collate information on prospective stakeholders.
Identify potential prospects due for follow up on nominations.
Produce weekly reports on activity and achievement levels.

Financial aspects

Interns are not financially remunerated by Humanitarian Affairs Asia for their work but may receive a stipend to help cover basic expenses related to the internship, such as accommodation, meals and transportation at the duty station.

All costs related to travel, insurance, and other living expenses must be borne by either interns or your sponsoring institution.

Eligibility requirements

You must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in a recognized institution of higher learning. If you have recently graduated from university, you must be able to commence the internship within one year of graduation.

Qualifications

Intelligent and quick witted, able to rapidly assimilate new and innovative ideas in social issues.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Excellent oral communication skills and active listening skills.
Possess a consultative approach and cordial tone of voice.
Highly organised and self-motivated with the ability to prioritise tasks.
Confident in overcoming rejection and setting challenging goals on a daily basis.
An additional plus point if you had a leadership role in a volunteer organization or at a part-time job before.
