10. Course Description 

Where are the leaders? This course¡¯s main objective is to find. Discover and, perhaps, create today¡¯s leaders.

Today¡¯s iPads, Blackberries and the Gallaxies are fueling the intensity of competitive environment in both private and public sectors. In the private sector, Wall Street¡¯s myopic focus on current profit is creating ¡®wrong leaders¡¯. Our time demands authentic leaders more than ever and we face leadership crisis in the business and in the politics.

Over a decade of heading Johnson & Johnson, Asia Pacific, I focused my energy on this challenge, ¡°developing leaders¡± as the competitive intensity requires better leaders which become scarcer ever and difficult to find.

This is why I came back to the campus to identify the high potential future leaders and help them develop their leadership skills.

This course, ¡°In Search of Leaders¡± is offered to the limited maximum of 30 students who have the potential leadership skills, and crave for identifying and developing them. It will focus on the leadership skills of ¡±each¡± student and require the leadership diagnosis through an intense counseling one on one as well as the interactive class discussion.

This course is much more than the knowledge of the leadership skills in case studies but more of focus on do I have the leadership skills set for the future leader, and how can I develop it.

Students will improve the understanding of the leadership skills with three role models, Sam Walton, the legendary founder of Wal Mart, the largest company in the world, the lecturer, the former head of Johnson and Johnson, Pharmaceutical Group, Asia Pacific, and one great business leader Korea has produced. Students will define their own leadership skills and develop the plan to improve it to become an authentic future leader.
